Septic Systems

In todays designing of septic systems it is a bit more complex then in days gone by. The amount of good septic drainage areas are long gone and it then is a matter of if a system can be installed. It used to be fairly simple to design a system, and it still is in some situations, but we now are seeing more houses built on ground that is steep, swampy, rocky, and with very slow perc. It is still essential to clean up the septic solution before it reaches the ground water and also prevent it from leaching out on top of the ground. There are different ways to accomplish a remedy through designs and engineering. I have been in the septic installation business for over thirty years, in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, and hold a West Virginia class I and a class II installers license.

If you are having a new home built and need to have a septic system designed for your property, you can contact me at this e-mail address Contact us. If you are having trouble with your old septic system or it has failed, contact me and I will get back to you via e-mail.

The laws of West Virginia, and other states, are for the benefit of all people. As the growth of housing increases, on this big ball we call the earth, the wells and water systems become more susceptible to contamination from things that are apt to be harmful and the enormous amount of septic systems being installed is the greatest concern. If everybody does their part then we can be a little bit more at ease about the water we are drinking.

I never thought the time would come when I would have to buy water. Even the restaurants are charging for water now. I got a meal at one yesterday and was charged for water that I got out of the drink dispenser. At another one the day before I was charged for water. Times have sure changed since I pumped water on the farm from a hand pump, to water all the live stock and chickens and also for household use. And since I am talking about that particular time in my life, we didn't have a bathroom in the house either. We had what was called, "the path out back". The "out house". In 1948 we hand dug the drain fields for the new thing called a septic system because we were having an addition build onto the house which included, "running water", something new for us, and a bath room which also was something new for us. We thought we were high class. Now we didn't have to go out in -10 degree weather, with 20 inches of snow on the ground, to "drop our pants", as it was called then. Did you know that out houses are outlawed now? The very institution that I started with in life can no longer be tolerated. Come to think of it. How would you like to have one of those things sitting next to your property line?
